Aim of Dream Discovery Academy

Dream Discovery Academy of Mongolia

The Dream Discovery Academy of Mongolia aims to:
  • give hope to poor and underprivileged children and young adults.
  • guide young adults in their career choices
  • teach health and safety
  • help children and young adults dreams come true, where possible
  • raise awareness of our cause

How is this going to be achieved?

1) GIVING HOPE TO POOR AND UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS:

a. Through Lectures - e.g. our work conducted at the Lotus Children's Centre on 2nd April 2011. Children engaged in creative activities, were inspired to have a realistic dream and gained invaluable outside contact.

b. Through High School Dream Teams (e.g. Golden Bridge) - Teams of students who have volutneered are to be trained by managers to conduct Dream Outreach. Links with care centres will be provided by Projects Abroad.
c. Summer Camp - Funded by the English Dream Team/ overseas, an annual summer camp for underprivileged children and young adults in Ulaanbaatar will take place, offering not just education but an escape for the poorest in society.

2) GUIDING YOUNG PEOPLE IN THEIR CAREER CHOICES:

a. Through Organising Career Days- Using the school links established by Projects Abroad, we aim to send successful Ulaanbaatar professionals into education centres to make children aware of the options available to them.

b. Through High School "Dream Teams" - trained by managers of DDA, volunteers will train school children to hone key skills and guide them in selecting a profession.
c. Pre university courses- which aim to prepare and educate young people in attending university both at home and abroad.
d. Work Life Preparation- aimed at care centres, we will run courses to increase young peoples' employability.

3) TEACHING HEALTH AND SAFETY:

a. Through the Golden Bridge "Dream Team"- There are fourty volunteers trained in teaching Health and Safety by the British Safety Council. Whether part of the Care or Education Dream Team, this should be included as part of their outreach programs.

4) HELPING CHILDRENS DREAMS COME TRUE:

a. Wish Boxes- left behind in the orphanages visited, care supervisors contact managers with children's wishes and those can be met are done so with money raised both in Mongolia and overseas.

b. Setting up Employment Opportunites- making dream jobs a reality by providing information about and setting up internships and apprenticeships within the city.
c. Profession Clubs- e.g. Journalism Club, Teaching Club, Medical Club. Using Projects Abroad volunteers, clubs will be set up who can attend relevant events (e.g. a medical conference) as a group.

5) RAISING AWARENESS OF OUR CAUSE:

a. Dream Team England

b. Social and fundraising events in Mongolia- raising awareness, not money is the amin concern here.
c. Considering the support of famous patrons to promote our cause
